7 gamblers arrested in G’bal, stake money seized: Police

Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested seven gamblers in Ganderbal and also seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on the specific inputs about the gambling activities at Akhal, Kangan, a police party headed by SHO Police Statioin Kangan raided the said place and during raid arrested five gamblers. Police in its statement further said that five gamblers arrested by it were identified as Showkat Ahmad Patlo S/o Mohd Sultan Patlo R/o Khanyar Srinagar, Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh S/o Abdul Hameed Sheikh R/o Zampa Kadil Srinagar, Faizan Jon S/o Fayaz Ah R/o Nawakadal Srinagar, Muzamil Ahmad Khan S/o Mushtaq Ahmad Khan R/o SafakKadal Srinagar, Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir S/o Ab Rehman Mir R/o Nawa Bazar Srinagar, Ali Muhammad Dar S/o Abdul Ahad Dar R/o Narayan Bagh and Abdul Hameed Parray S/o Gh Hasan Parray R/o Boon Mohalla Hajan. Stating that stake money of Rs 5,600/- and playing cards were also seized on the spot, Police in its statement furthermore said that meanwhile in the jurisdiction of Police post Shadipora, a police party led by In-charge Police Post Shadipora also apprehended two gamblers during patrolling at Rabitar and seized stake money of Rs 4500/-, 12 J&K Bank Cheques amounting Rs 1,81650/-, Blank Cheque and playing cards from their possession, adding therein that the said accused have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody.
Stating that the cases were registered under relevant sections of law at respective police stations , Police in its statement further said that further investigation of the case is underway.
