Assembly Elections-2024: DEO B’pora convenes meeting with Political Parties

Bandipora: In preparation for the upcoming Assembly elections 2024, the District Election Officer (DEO) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri on Saturday.
convened a meeting with representatives of various political parties at the Mini Secretariat, here. The meeting focused on ensuring a free, fair, and transparent electoral process.
The meeting was attended by SSP Lakshay Sharma, ADDC M Ashraf Bhatt, Nodal Officer MCC ZaffarHussonShawal, Dy DEO Mohammad RafeeqBhat, RO 15- BandiporaShabir Ahmad Wani, Nodal Officer Expenditure Monitoring Sheikh AabidManzoor, Nodal Officer MCMC AadilManzoorWani, representatives of different political parties including BhartiyaJanta Party, INC, DPAP, JKAP, JKNC, JKNPF, AIP, PDP, and other concerned.
During the meeting, the DEO discussed several key issues, including strict adherence to the Model Code of Conduct.
Emphasizing the importance of a peaceful electoral environment, the DEO sought the cooperation of all political parties to ensure that the elections are conducted smoothly and without any disruptions.
The participants were provided a detailed briefing on the measures being implemented to maintain the integrity of the electoral process.
The DEO said that all the arrangements have been put in place to ensure free and fair elections and added that different committees have been constituted to check the implementation of MCC.
The participants were briefed about the model code of conduct, expenditure monitoring, putting up of flags, banners, the size of banners, the time of their installation and removal besides detailed deliberations were held regarding various applications including cVIGIL, Suvidha, NCORE and other ICT applications of Election Commission of India.
Addressing the participants, SSP Lakshay Sharma urged participants to encourage the use of ethical campaigning practices and to refrain from engaging in any activities that could incite violence or violate the model code of conduct.
The DEO also addressed concerns raised by the political party representatives and assured them that their suggestions would be taken into consideration.
He reiterated the administration’s commitment to facilitating a transparent and efficient election process, ensuring level playing field for all contesting candidates.
