Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Baramulla and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Station Boniyar headed by SHO Police Station Boniyar at a checkpoint established at Pehlipora-Naganari Crossing, intercepted one Showkat Ahmad Baniyan S/o Noor Alam R/o Kachardari Zehanpora and during search recovered 30 grams of charas from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to Police Station Boniyar where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Boniyar besides initiating investigation into the case, Police
in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
