Jammu : After attentively hearing the demands of unemployed youth and calls for the regularization of NYC and Saakshar Bharat Mission employees, Senior BJP leader and Member of Parliament Er. Gulam Ali Khatana assured the delegations that he would address their concerns with the relevant authorities to seek constructive solutions.
The MP reaffirmed the Modi Government’s commitment, stating that he would do his utmost to address the issues raised. “Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, the NDA government is fully dedicated to serving its citizens. I assure you that your concerns will not go unheard,” the MP told the deputations.
On Wednesday, a deputation of unemployed youth met MP Khatana, with a primary demand for age relaxation in the recruitment process for Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) Constables and Sub-Inspectors. The deputation highlighted that there has been a considerable gap in the recruitment drives for constable’s post, leading to a situation where many aspirants have now exceeded the age limit set by the J&K Government. The youth expressed their frustration over the lack of recruitment opportunities over the years, emphasizing that many of them had been preparing rigorously for these positions, only to find themselves disqualified due to age constraints. “We have been waiting for years for recruitment to open up, and now, when it finally does, we find ourselves overage. We urge the government to provide age relaxation for us,” one of the deputation members stated.
In a parallel meeting, another deputation comprising members of the National Youth Corps (NYC) sought the regularization of their services. The NYC members, who were engaged on a merit basis back in 2010, stressed that their contributions over the years merit formal recognition through regularization.
The deputation reminded MP Khatana of the support the BJP had extended to their cause when it was in the opposition. “A decade ago, the BJP stood by us during our protests, even at Jantar Mantar. Now that the party is in power, we believe our demand for regularization should be fulfilled without further delay,” a deputation member remarked. The NYC members underscored the critical role they have played in various developmental initiatives and social programs, asserting that their regularization would not only be a just reward for their service but would also bring stability to their lives. Similarly, employees engaged under the Saakshar Bharat Mission, a Government of India initiative aimed at promoting literacy among non-literate adults, also met MP Khatana to voice their concerns. The deputation demanded the immediate release of their pending wages and the regularization of their services. Launched in 2009, the Saakshar Bharat Mission, a centrally sponsored scheme under the UPA government, focused on enhancing literacy rates across the country. The employees lamented the delay in the release of their salaries, which has put many of them in financial distress. They also pushed for the regularization of their services, arguing that their work has been instrumental in achieving the mission’s goals and should be recognized with formal employment status.
During the meetings, MP Khatana listened to the concerns and demands of the deputations with keen interest. He assured them that their issues would be taken up with the appropriate authorities for prompt resolution. “Your concerns are valid, and I will ensure that they are brought to the notice of the relevant officials. We will work towards finding a solution that is both fair and timely,” the MP assured. In addition to the organized deputations, numerous individuals also approached MP Khatana to seek his support for their personal grievances. The MP reiterated his commitment to addressing the issues faced by his constituents, promising to advocate for their rights and welfare at the highest levels.”
