Kulgam: Ahead of the Independence Day celebrations, security has been beefed up across South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, official said on Wednesday.
He said checkpoints have been erected in many places in Kulgam district including Qazigund, Lowermunda, Mirbazar, Kulgam town, Qaimoh, Frisal, Yaripora Chawalgam, DH Pora, Nihama and others parts of the district and frisking has been intensified. Security personnel are seen at many places stopping and checking the vehicles. “Kulgam police intensified search ahead of Independence Day celebration on the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kulgam, Sahil Sarangal-IPS from last few days, the process of searches have been going on various places”, he said. “Close vigil is being kept on the overall situation in the district, senior Police officers are personally monitoring the security situation in the district to ensure a safe and secure environment for the celebrations”, he added. The Independence day function will be held in district Police line (DPL) Kulgam on August 15.
