IFS organises Camp under ‘Sanjivni’ at CHC Hajin B’pora

Bandipora: As part of the Indian Fertility Society’s (IFS) 2nd Camp under landmark pilot project ‘Sanjivini’ all over India for uplifting women’s reproductive health, a camp was on Monday held at CHC Hajin, Bandipora in Kashmir.
The camp was inaugurated by Ex-officio Secretary to the Govt, Director SKIMS Prof M Ashraf Ganai; Addl. Director SKIMS, DrFirdous Ahmed Giri, Addl. Joint Secretary Indian Fertility Society and Patron IFS Kashmir Chapter Dr Syed Sajjad Hussain; Medical Superintendent SK Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr Farooq Ahmed Jan; Head Community Medicine SKIMS, Prof Raufur Rashid Koul and District Officer Bandipora, DrRehanaGulzar.
More than 250 health workers, ASHA workers and doctors from Govt dispensaries, MACs and PHCs of District Bandipora, in addition to around 170 infertile couples from far flung areas of Bandipora District attended this 2nd IFS Sanjivni Camp.In the camp Urdu Flip Charts of IFS ‘Sanjivni’ were released for the Awareness of Healthcare workers on the basic topics like Menstrual Hygiene, Breast Cancer Awareness, Cervical Cancer Awareness, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and Fertility Myths.
The Addl. Joint Secretary Indian Fertility Society and Patron IFS Kashmir Chapter handed over the Guidelines of Indian ART & Surrogacy Act 2021 to District Officer Bandipora compiled by Indian Fertility Society.
Chief guest Ex-officio Secretary to Govt& Director SKIMS in his speech applauded the role and academic activities of Indian Fertility Society in the interiors and hamlets of our country. With extreme appreciation of this IFS program at HajinBandipora, he overwhelmingly offered the full support of J&K Government in general and SK Institute of Medical Sciences Srinagar in particular, to the executive committee of Indian Fertility Society for continuing their academic activities in the region and he also sought the cooperation of IFS Kashmir Patron for starting the IVF services in SK Institute of Medical Sciences Srinagar for the poor needy childless couples.
Guest of Honor, Addl. Director SKIMS appreciated the management and activities of recent IFS academic camps in Kashmir especially for the rural population.
In his speech Add. Joint Secretary Indian Fertility Society and Patron IFS Kashmir Chapter ensured full support of IFS to the Govt Health & Medical Education in general and SKIMS in particular for starting their IVF services in government sector for the poor desperate childless couples.
“By empowering the healthcare authorities with relevant knowledge and training the workers with the aid of flip charts and videos we can ensure that vital information reaches the very heart of rural communities. Such an initiative, we believe, will lead to a transformative impact on various fronts. Firstly, it will contribute to a significant reduction in infertility cases by enabling early detection and intervention,” DrSajjad said.
Head Community Medicine SKIMS whole heartedly praised the academic camps of IFS for the awareness of general public and gained knowledge for the health care workers in general and the concerned doctors in particular. He was also the part of successful National IFS event at Gulmarg, Kashmir on 31st December 2023.
After the release of videos in Kashmiri Language the Patient Consultation session was held at OPD section of PHC Hajin with penning down the case histories of the patients, for the statistical data of Indian Infertility and associated disorders which will be later on compiled at IFS headquarters New Delhi.
The IFS Kashmir Chapter had installed two tent houses for the couples arrived from far flung areas. The PHC Hajin OPD block was flooded with patients. The patients were mostly the couples with primary and secondary infertility of 2 to 19 years including some other disorders.
Around 230 patients including 170 infertile couples were examined by the specialist doctors of IFS Kashmir team. Till late evening, the IFS Doctors team ensured that no patient left without their consultation.
