Jammu : Chief Horticulture Officer Jammu, RakeshKotwal conducted an extensive tour of Khour block, inspecting various ongoing and completed projects sanctioned in favour of the beneficiaries under different departmental schemes, particularly those under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP).
During his visit, the CHO was accompanied by DLSMS pomology Sandeep Gupta and HDO KhourAmitSaraf who closely examined the progress and quality of work on key initiatives including pack houses, borewells, drip irrigation system, mechanization components etc. as these projects are crucial for enhancing the efficiency and productivity of the horticulture sector in the region and thereby increasing the income of farmers.
A significant highlight of the tour was the interaction cum training programme organized for the local farmers that was chaired by CHO Jammu and SDM KhourSatish Sharma. The event saw an enthusiastic participation of a large number of farmers, including women and youth, eager to learn and engage with the Chief Horticulture Officer.
CHO emphasized the importance of various departmental schemes designed to support the horticulture community. He highlighted the special provisions available for unemployed youth, encouraging them to take advantage of these schemes to achieve self-reliance and economic independence.
He further stated that the department is committed to empowering the farmers with the latest knowledge and technologies and the departmental schemes are tailored to support every segment of the farming community, especially the youth, enabling them to contribute effectively to the growth of the horticulture sector.
Speaking on the occasion, SDM Khour highlighted that such interaction sessions provide an excellent platform for farmers to voice their concerns, seek expert advice, and gain insights into best practices in horticulture. During the programme DLSMS pomology assured the farmers of continued support and guidance from the department to address their challenges and improve their livelihood.
The interaction cum training programme was concluded by planting of fruit plant sampling under the ongoing campaign “Ek Ped Shaheedon k Naam” and Tiranga pledge.
