Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and Kulgam besides recovering contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that in Baramulla, a police party of Police Station Bijhama headed by SHO Police Station Bijhama at a checkpoint established at Noorkhah Crossing, intercepted one Danish Javid S/o Javid Ahmad R/o Jabdar Bijhama and during search recovered 30 grams of contraband charas like substance from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to Police Station Bijhama where he remains in custody, adding therein that a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Bijhama besides initiating further investigation.
Stating that in a similar action in Kulgam, a police party of Police Station Kulgam at a checkpoint established at Tehsil crossing near employment exchange office Kulgam, intercepted one Nisar Ahmad Mir S/o Abdul Salam Mir R/o Mohanpora, Kulgam, carrying a nylon bag and during search recovered 800 grams of charas like contraband substance from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to Police Station Kulgam where he remains in custody , Police in its statement further said that a case under FIR No 122/2024 under relevant sections of law wasregistered at Police Station Kulgam besides initiating further investigation. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
