Srinagar: SMHS Hospital, one of the tertiary care health institutions in J&K has been catering to the huge rush of patients on daily basis by providing consultation, patient care and health related services.
On an average, the hospital has been providing such services to 3200 patients in out patients and casualty department on daily basis, besides IPD services spread over different wards with a capacity of 890 beds.
The OPD services are provided in Medicine, Surgery, Dermatology, ENT, Radiation Oncology and Ophthalmology. The casualty and emergency section deals with all the cases of general medicine, trauma, surgery and cases of immediate attention. A well organised mechanism from patient reception to treatment, lab testing, admission and related aspects is in place.
It is important to mention that around 30 major and 60 minor procedures are performed daily at the healthcare institute.
During 2023-24, in out patients department 1063028 patients were attended, similarly 107589 patients were treated in inpatients department, and while as 10726 major and 12543 minor surgeries were performed during the period.
In Radiation oncology about 110 patients are provided with health care services daily, while 16 IPD patients are also treated. 120 Patients are being given Radiation therapy daily.
Besides, 6000 Lab tests being done in SMHS Hospital on daily basis in dedicated Labs and Lab services are available 24×7 .
On OPD side about 500 samples are evaluated daily for various tests and 6000 tests are carried out besides tests are being done on IPD side as well.
30 MRIs, 450 USGs, 125 CTs and on an average 400 X- rays are done on a single day.
The hospital has been providing round the clock Lab services to IPD, OPD and patients visiting Casualty.
The Lab has dedicated staff and fully automated equipment and provides the best service to the patients.
The sanitation and hygiene is priority area which is attended to with missionary zeal.
SMHS hospital and other associated hospitals of Govt. Medical College Srinagar are committed to quality health/ patient care facilities with special focus on sanitation , cleanliness and hygiene.
