4 gamblers arrested in B’la; Stake money seized: Police

Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested four gamblers in Baramulla and also seized stake money besides playing cards from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on a specific inputs about the gambling activities, a police party headed by SHO Police Station Pattan under the supervision of SDPO Pattan raided at Yamberzal Colony Pattan. Stating that during the 4 gamblers were arrested besides seizing stake money of ₹10,640/- and playing cards from the possession of the said accused, Police in its statement further said the accused were identified as Tariq Ahmad MallaS/o Gh Hassan R/o Pattan, Bilal Ahmad Shah S/o Ali Mohd resident of Kalsari, Firdous Ahmad Shah S/o Hikmatullah R/o Pattan and Tanvir Ahmad Shah S/o Mohammad Yousuf R/o Kalsari , adding therein that the said accused were later shifted to the police station where they remain in custody. Police in its statement further said that a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police station Pattan besides initiating further investigation into the case.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police warned that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
