VC IUST Chairs Advisory Council For Habba Khatoon Centre For Kashmiri Language & Literature

Awantipora : The Habba Khatoon Centre for Kashmiri Language and Literature, Islamic University of Science and Technology convened its second Advisory Council meeting here on Thursday.
The meeting chaired by Prof Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, Vice Chancellor was attended by Prof. R.L. Shant (Former Professor Department of Higher Education Govt. of J&K), Prof. Shafi Shauq (Former Professor Department of Kashmiri KU), Rafiq Raaz (Former Station Director Radio Kashmir Srinagar), Prof. Farooq Fayaz (Former Professor Department of History KU), Prof. R.L. Talashi (Former Professor Department of Kashmiri KU), Prof. Mehfooza Jan (Professor Department of Kashmiri KU),renowned poet Zareef Ahmad Zareef , Mohd. Subhan Shaukeen (Prominent Poets), Mohammad Amin Bhat (President Adbee Markaz Kamraz), Prof. Abdul Wahid (Registrar), Dr. Munejah Khan (Dean School of Humanities & Social Sciences), and Dr.Shafqat Altaf (Assistant Professor Department of Kashmiri KU).
The Council reviewed the working of the center and discussed on the future plans in light of the National Education Policy 2020. Prof Romshoo said that different centers operating in IUST are mainly focused on research with a multidisciplinary approach. He emphasized on leveraging technology in domains of Language and literature and said that at IUST Natural Language processing models in Kashmiri are being explored. Among other things, the council also deliberated on organizing a Conference at National Level, review the structure of courses offered, recommended expansion in the themes of Ph.D., translation of classics and workshops. The meeting was coordinated by Dr. Afshana.
