Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Kulgam and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Qaimoh established a specific checkpoint at village Khudwani and during checking intercepted two suspects identified as Zahid Mohi Ud Din Bhat S/o Ghulam Mohi Ud Din Bhat R/o Gufbal, Qaimoh and Talib Gull S/o Gull Mohd Shah R/o Qaimoh and after search recovered 6 grams of Brown sugar and 1 Kg of Poppy Straw like contraband substances concealed in a nylon bag from the possession, adding therein that the said accused were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that police party of Police Station Devsar during patrolling at Cheyan, Adigam also apprehended one suspect identified as Naseer Ahmad Shan S/o Mohd Hussain Shan R/o Kilam and recovered grinded Cannabis weighing 1 Kg and Poppy Straw weighing 600 grams like contraband substances concealed in a nylon bag, Police in its statement further said that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations besides initiating further investigations.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
