Jammu : Police on Tuesday said that it has seized two metadors’ for overloading on Akhnoor-Jammu road.
In a statement issued from District Police Headquarters Jammu Police said that a team acting tough on overloading in public transport yet again on Tuesday seized two minibuses and booked their drivers for endangering life of people. Stating that while acting on an input received through reliable sources Police seized two matadors bearing Regn. No.JK02U-9521 and JK02T-7049 driven by unknown drivers while they were on way from Akhnoor towards Mawa area in very rash and negligent manners, Police in its statement further said that the said mini buses were overloaded with passengers from inside and some passenger were also seen sitting on the roof top of the matadors.
Police in its statement further said that a case under FIR No.144/2024 U/s 281/125 BNS, 194 MV Act was registered atpolice station Akhnoor , adding therein that
during investigation police party of Police Station Akhnoor did hectic efforts and seized both matadors from Koudewala area. Police in its statement furthermore said that matador drivers namely Sakinder Manhotra S/O Butti Ram R/O Narayna khour and Nittu Kkumar S/O Simru Ram R/O Mawa Brahmna Akhnoor were also arrested.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people not to board public transport beyond capacity and also warned drivers and owners for dire consequences for traffic violations specifically overloading , reiterating therein that matter for increasing public transport has also taken up with civil administration by police for addressing public grievances.
