Bandipora: As part of SwachhataPakhwada campaign, the HKM GDC Bandipora transformed into a hub of vibrant activities on Monday setting the tone for the fortnight-long celebrations.
The Department of Political Science, under the guidance of the HoD Prof. SajadManzoor organised a Quiz Competition on the Indian Freedom Struggle, igniting the patriotic fervour among students who participated with remarkable enthusiasm.
In the contest, Afeel Ahmad (4th Semester student) bagged the first position, showcasing his deep knowledge and quick wit. Close on his heels Shabeena and Subeena, both from the 2nd Semester, secured the second and third positions respectively, demonstrating impressive grasp of the subject.
Adding a melodic touch to the celebrations, the College Debates and Seminar Committee, also led by Prof. SajadManzoor, orchestrated a captivating National Anthem Singing Competition. The competition saw five talented students serenade the audience with their renditions of the anthem, embodying the spirit of unity and patriotism.
MehnanAfaq, Gulnaza Bashir, and ShameemaNisar emerged as the top three performers, earning the honour to represent the college in the upcoming Inter-College Competition.
The day’s third highlight was a literary activity organised by the College Literary Club under the stewardship of Prof. G.M. Khan. The competition, themed ‘The Unsung Heroes of the Indian Freedom Struggle,’ saw an impressive turnout of students who passionately brought to light the stories of lesser-known freedom fighters.
Their eloquence and research skills were truly commendable, making the event both enlightening and inspiring.
ACR Bandipora, Shabir Ahmad Wani, who came to witness the Swachhta activities in action, delivered an engaging awareness speech, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness and its impact on community well-being. His interaction with the students was both motivational and insightful, leaving a lasting impression on the young minds.
