Srinagar : Union Minister G Kishan Reddy on Monday announced that the Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir are scheduled for September.
Addressing a BJP rally marking the fifth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, Reddy urged voters to support the BJP to sustain development and combat militancy. Reddy highlighted the significant reduction in activities by Pakistan and its intelligence agency, ISI, following the revocation of Article 370 by the Modi government. He warned Pakistan against supporting militancy in the region.
Addressing the ‘Ekatma Mahotsav’ rally at Bana Singh Stadium in Jammu, Reddy, who also serves as the BJP’s election in-charge for J&K, asserted that the upcoming elections are an opportunity for the people to choose between a BJP-led government focused on progress and opposition parties advocating for the reinstatement of Article 370, which he criticized for fostering militancy and unrest.
Reddy praised the abrogation as a “proud moment” and emphasized its role in granting rights and eliminating problems such as militancy and separatism in J&K. He urged voters to reject the Congress and National Conference, suggesting that their return to power could lead to a resurgence of militancy. (KNS)
