Srinagar : Police on Monday said that in its ongoing drive against illegal mining in Baramulla 179 cases have been registered and 297 accused arrested for being involved in extraction/ transportation of minerals since January 2024, adding therein that 297 vehicles used in illegal transport of minerals including 128 Tippers, 161 Tractors and 8 excavators have also been seized from different areas of the district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that Baramulla Police along with the Minerals Department realised fine in lacs for illegal extraction/ transportation of minerals in the district.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police reiterated its commitment to act tough against the violators and also appealed people to come forward with any information regarding illegal mineral-related activities in their neighbourhood.
