“Gadhkari’s call over the abolition of 18% GST on life and medical insurance shows his concern for the health and life safety conveniences of the people irrespective of his political affiliation with the ruling political and the present constitutional position.”

The call for abolition of 18% GST on life and medical insurance to mitigate the health risks of people of all classes and section has not come from the main opposition but from a key minister Nitin Gadkari not holding the portfolio of Health & Family Welfare Ministry but the portfolio of Ministry Of Road Transport & Highways. So neither the main opposition nor the Minister holding the portfolio of Health & Family Ministry bothered to show concerns over an unjust tax of 18% levied on life and medical insurance that goes against the spirits of incentivising the physical ailments of the insurance policy holders in the country. Gadhkari’s call over the abolition of 18% GST on life and medical insurance shows his concern for the health and life safety conveniences of the people irrespective of his political affiliation with the ruling political and the present constitutional position. While his single statement over the abolition of 18% GST on life and medical insurance shows his respect for the spirits of public representation, the silence of the main opposition and as well as the Health & Family Welfare shows their highly reduced concerns for the health and life safety conveniences of the people of the whole country.  While GST of 18% on medical and life insurance policies does not matter at all for the people of affluent classes and higher income groups, the people of middle class sections of the society and low income groups are always hugely vulnerable to rising costs of health and life insurance policies.

“Since reducing GST on Health & Life Insurance is tantamount to reduce the health risks of the people of low income groups and give them protection against vulnerability of health and life risks, it demands and deserves immediate attention and intervention of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi , Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Health & Family Welfare Minister J P Nada for the purposes of  immediate action on Gadkari’s call for abolition of 18% GST on life and medical insurance policies. After all reducing GST on life and medical insurance would also stimulate the growth of the insurance business in health sector and also protect insurance holders against vulnerability to health and life risks in future.”

Apparently the imposition of 18% GST on medical and life insurance policies does not reduce the accessibility of the people of affluent classes and high income groups but it hugely reduces the accessibility of the people of middle class sections of the society and low income groups to health facilities in case of critical ailments at both the Government and private hospitals across the country.  Since reducing GST on Health & Life Insurance is tantamount to reduce the health risks of the people of low income groups and give them protection against vulnerability of health and life risks, it demands and deserves immediate attention and intervention of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi , Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Health & Family Welfare Minister J P Nada for the purposes of  immediate action on Gadkari call for abolition of 18% GST on life and medical insurance policies. After all reducing GST on life and medical insurance would also stimulate the growth of the insurance business in health sector and also protect insurance holders against vulnerability to health and life risks in future.
