Jammu : As part of Operation SANJEEVANI, the Jammu Police continue to crack down on drug peddlers, a police team from Bagh-E-Bahu Police Station, while conducting routine patrolling and frisking at Kalka Colony Naka near Cyber Police Station Bagh-E-Bahu.
The police noticed a suspicious individual approaching from Gujjar Nagar. Upon seeing the police, the person attempted to hide and quickly turned back. The police team, acting promptly, apprehended him after a brief chase.
The police spokesman said that suspect identified himself as Sunil Kumar, 31, son of Bodh Raj, a resident of Gandhi Basti, Bathinda, Jammu. During a personal search, the police recovered a substance suspected to be heroin (chitta) from his possession.
“A case has been registered at Bagh-E-Bahu Police Station under FIR No. 36/2024, U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act, and an investigation has been initiated,” he said. The spokesman said the arrest has been welcomed by the local community, who praised the police for preventing the distribution of narcotics among the youth of Jammu city. The police are further investigating the backward and forward linkages in the drug smuggling network.
