Crackdown On Narcotics; Police Attaches Commercial Complex Worth Crores In Bijbehara, Ang

Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has attached a Commercial Complex valued at over Rs 2 crores, belonging to the late Abdul Rashid Dar of Tulkhan Bijbehara, Anantnag.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the Property was identified as being acquired through illicit drug trade, specifically the trafficking of Narcotic drugs and Psychotropic substances, adding therein that the attached property includes a commercial building constructed at a prime location on Jammu-Srinagar highway at Semthan Bijbehara, covering an area of 5 Kanal 12 Marla under Survey No. 291 Min.
Stating that the accused was involved in case FIR No. 210/2020 under relevant sections of law, registered at Police Station Bijbehara, Police in its statement further said that in September 2020, an underground room in the compound of the deceased Abdul Rashid Dar was discovered containing a substantial quantity of contraband substances, presumably poppy straw (Fukki) packed in gunny bags and plastic barrels. Police in its statement further said “the investigation has revealed that the deceased had acquired this contraband substance from illegal sources and stored it for further illicit sale to the local youth, thereby promoting drug addiction and their illegal trade”, adding “A total of 126 gunny bags weighing 2600 kgs and 60 plastic barrels (1395 kgs) of the contraband substance were recovered from the spot”.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police reaffirmed its commitment to combat the drug menace and also appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
