Doodhpathri(Budgam): Saying that Jammu and Kashmir is the crown of India the Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Front (J&K PDF) and former Minister Hakeem Yaseen on Tuesday called upon the Central Government not to lower the prestige of Kashmir by stripping off its administrative powers through amendments .
Addressing a public rally at Tangnar Doodhpathri in Budgam district Hakeen said that recent amendment to the Transaction of Business of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir Rules, 2019 is aimed at delegating more powers to Lieutenant Governor on matters related to decisions on police, officers of all-India Services and sanctioning prosecution in various cases . He said the amendment would undermine the authority of the elected government and Chief Ministerَs chair in jammu and kashmir . Hakeem called upon the Central Government not to play with the emotions of the people and lower their esteem by bringing different amendments including amendment to the Transaction of Business of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir Rules, 2019. He said the amendment delegates more powers to the lieutenant governor on matters related to decisions on police, officers of all-India services such as the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and the Indian Police Service (IPS), and sanctioning prosecution in various cases. He said reducing authority of the elected government and downsizing the Chief Ministers office would prove counterproductive and futile in the long run. Recalling that people of Jammu and Kashmir are secular and peace loving by conviction the PDF Chairman said that people in Jammu & Kashmir want to live a peaceful life with dignity and honour, adding therein that common people need a humanitarian touch for heal up their wounds and this could be achieved only by valuing their self-respect Hakeem further said that the onus to come forward and remove ، Dil Ki Doori – Dili se Doori – lies on the Government as promised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself. Hakeem also appealed Home Minister Amit Shah to announce restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir ,in its original form , hold early assembly elections and and restore all the rights to people granted to them under the constitution for building an atmosphere of trust and confidence. He said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have been continuously deprived of their elected assembly and democratic rights for the past 9 years, due to which an atmosphere of political and social vacuum and uncertainty exists here in Jammu & Kashmir. He said that there is no response to public demands at the grass roots and the common people are completely deprived of basic facilities. Hakeem also cautioned against machinations of opportunistic political parties who have failed to protect self respect of the people , during last 70 years , for satiating their power lust ideologies. He said that by playing with the sentiments of the people, the opportunistic political parties sowed the seeds of suspicion and alienation towards mainstream that boomeranged into the eruption militancy in 1990 . “ You see the people are still facing the brunt of that turmoil which has so far consumed precious lives of thousands of youth besides making thousands of children orphans, thousands of sisters widows, and demolish property worth billions of rupees” Hakeem maintained. PDP Chairman also launched a scathing criticism on the tourism development authorities (TDAs) of Tossamaidan ,Doodhpathri and Yusmarg for failing to build basic tourism infrastructure at these tourist resorts. He has appealed Chief Secretary Attal Dulloo to ask tourism department for making an integrated tourism development plan for these TDAs to give fresh impetus to tourism activities in these areas and open new job opportunities for the unemployed youth.
