Poonch: Deputy Commissioner Yasin M. Choudharyon Tuesday chaired a meeting to review the preparedness for the SwachhtaPakhwada campaign.
It was informed that the SwacchtaPakhwada is scheduled to be observed from August 1 to August 15, 2024.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner discussed several points for the arrangement of the SwacchtaPakhwada. He directed all the heads of institutions, including colleges, schools, and offices, to administer the Swacchta Pledge. The BDOs were also instructed to conduct a door-to-door awareness campaign on sanitation.
The education institutions were asked to organize cleanliness drives and make children aware of the importance of waste segregation and its ill effects. The Deputy Commissioner also directed the revival of the Swacchta Bank and the distribution of cloth bags to reduce plastic usage, with the involvement of the BeoparMandal and other stakeholders.
The CAO, DSHO, CAHO, and EO municipalities, along with all the BDOs, were asked to organize special awareness and action-oriented campaigns to educate the public on converting wet waste into organic manure at the household level.
The Principals of the Government Degree College Poonch, Mendhar, and Surankote, as well as the CEO of the municipality, were directed to organize Swacchta quizzes and painting competitions. The CEO Tourism, EO Municipality, and all BDOs were instructed to conduct cleanliness drives in major tourist places, heritage sites, religious sites, bus stops, and roadsides.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of making the SwacchtaPakhwada a success and called for the active participation of all stakeholders to achieve the desired results.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that the flag hoisting and plantation drive at the AmritSarovar will serve as a symbolic representation of the district’s commitment to cleanliness, environmental preservation, and patriotic fervor.
