Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested five gamblers in Baramulla and also seized stake money and playing cards from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on a reliable inputs regarding the gambling activities, a police party headed by Incharge Police Post Old Town Baramulla under the supervision of Dy SPHqrs Baramulla during a raid at Azadgunj Baramulla arrested five gamblers. Stating that the said five gambers formally arrested have been identified as Javid Ahmad Parray S/o Gh Ahmad R/o Arampora, Kallu Sheikh S/o Azeem Sheikh R/o Kalaroos Kupwara, Gh Nabi GojreeS/o Sonaullah and Abdul Hamid Dar S/o Ab Khaliq both residents of Azadgunj and Aijaz Ahmad Waza S/o Mohd Yousuf R/o DK Margwere , Police in its statement said that stake money of Rs-13200/- and playing cards were recovered from the possession of accused who were shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Police in its statement further said that a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Baramulla besides initiating investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
