Jammu: Continuing its unwavering efforts to bridge the gap between police and the public, Jammu Police facilitated a Police Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meeting at Phallain Mandal.
The spokesman said that meeting was chaired by SP City South Jammu, Ajay Sharma, accompanied by SHO P/S Satwari and IC PP Phallain Mandal.
Civil society members and local dignitaries attended the meeting. Participants highlighted various public concerns, and they were assured that their genuine grievances related to the police would be resolved on priority.
Issues pertaining to the civil administration would be taken up with the relevant departments for prompt redressal.
SP City South assured the attendees that the existing VDG (Village Defence Groups) will be strengthened, and old weaponry will be replaced with new automatic weaponry as per government policy. New VDGs will be created as needed.
He also emphasized that any suspicious activity in the area should be promptly reported to the local police.
The participants were urged to cooperate with the police in maintaining law and order and in identifying anti-national elements attempting to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere. SP City South encouraged locals to conduct Prabhat Feri in villages to monitor suspicious activities, to which the locals voluntarily agreed.
Addressing the gathering, SP City South highlighted the police’s efforts to eradicate the drug menace and urged locals to support making Jammu a drug-free district.
Participants assured their full cooperation in this initiative.Additionally, locals were encouraged to keep a close watch on their children and adopt good parenting practices to prevent involvement in criminal activities.
Participants were also informed about drone-dropping incidents, as the area is near the International Border (IB) and within the range of such activities. The meeting concluded on a positive note with thanks and appreciations from the public for the community-based and friendly policing by Jammu Police.
