Kishtwar : A significant meeting of National Conference women wing was held at Kishtwar, under the chairmanship of Indu Bala, District President women wing of Kishtwar. The meeting saw the presence of JKNC State Vice President and former MLA Bimla Luthra as the chief guest and DDC Chairperson of Kishtwar, Pooja Thakur, as the guest of honour.

Indu Bala apprised senior party functionaries of the glaring absence of effective policies aimed at uplifting the women of Kishtwar district to most backward area of J&K. She highlighted that women in the region are deprived of basic amenities, a situation that demands urgent attention and action.

Bimla Luthra, in her address, strongly criticised the present dispensation for its failure to uplift the womenfolk. She stated that, apart from empty rhetoric, the BJP has done nothing substantial to improve the lives of women. She made a fervent appeal to women to come out in large numbers and actively participate in the democratic process to ensure their voices are heard and their issues are addressed.

Highlighting the achievements of the National Conference, Bimla Luthra said, “NC has always been committed to the empowerment of women. Our party has a proud history of implementing policies and initiatives that have significantly improved the status and welfare of women in the region.”

The former MLA urged the women workers to take inspiration from the past successes and work towards a better future for the women of Kishtwar. In a moment of national pride, Bimla Luthra also congratulated Indian shooter Manu Bhaker for bringing laurels to the country in the Olympics. She praised Manu’s dedication and hard work, viewing her success as an inspiration for all women in India.

DDC Chairperson Pooja Thakur expressed her concerns about the backwardness of Kishtwar and its rural areas, emphasizing the need for more funds to develop the area. She called on the women of Kishtwar to work hard and strengthen the hands of Party President Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Vice President Omar Abdullah in the upcoming Assembly polls. “Kishtwar is a backward area and it needs more funds for development. The women here have the potential to bring about change, and I urge them to support our party’s efforts and work towards strengthening our leadership,” said Thakur.
