Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Budgam and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Party Soibugh at a checkpoint established near Police Post Soibugh intercepted a vehicle (Piaggio Auto) bearing registration number JK01AL-4083 driven by Hilal Ahmad Dagga S/o Mohd Ramzan Dagga R/o Mahjoor Nagar Rose Line Colony Rambagh Srinagar A/P Kenihama Nowgam Srinagar and during search, recovered 14 Kgs of Poppy Straw from the possession of the said accused who was arrested , adding therein that the vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police said that a case under FIR No. 309/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Budgam besides initiating further investigation into the case.
