Udhampur : Commissioner Secretary, Information Technology Department, PrernaPuri, who is also the Electoral Roll Observer for Udhampur, on Saturday chaired a meeting with Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers of the district to assess progress on the ongoing 2nd Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls.
Deputy Election Officer Udhampur, SaloniRai, Deputy District Election Officer, Dr. AnirudhRai, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Dr. Umesh Shan, SDM Ramnagar, Rafiq Ahmad Jaral, SDM ChenaniGurdev Kumar and Tehsildars attended the meeting.
The DEO provided a detailed overview of the ongoing special summary revision in the district to the Commissioner Secretary.
During the meeting, PrernaPuri conducted a comprehensive review of progress achieved in the district under SSR-2024.
The Commissioner Secretary asked the concerned officers to ensure completion of the revision with addition of new voters, rectification of omissions and deletion of duplicate entries, within the stipulated timeline.
She emphasized the need to expedite the enrolment of PwD voters and ensure that no voter is left unregistered in the district. She emphasised the officers and officials associated with the SSR to work with dedication and zeal to ensure the entire exercise is completed in a timely manner, achieving 100 percent enrolment of eligible voters.
PrernaPuri also directed the intensification of SVEEP activities to sensitize the public, especially women and youth, regarding voter registration. She called for multimedia campaigns and use of District Election Icons to motivate youth participation in the electoral process.
The Commissioner Secretary instructed the officers to mobilise resources and complete the SSR 2024 process within the given timeline. She stressed the importance of the timely disposal of claims and objections and directed for establishment of a helpline number for public inquiries regarding SSR in the district.
PrernaPuri interacted with representatives of different political parties, seeking their cooperation in accurate SSR in the district. She urged upon them to motivate and raise awareness among the public to maximize voter enrolment in the district.
The DEO briefed the Commissioner Secretary on the progress and ongoing work concerning the SSR of Photo Electoral Rolls in the Assembly Constituencies.
