“The main motive of ‘Hausla 2.0’ and the JK Startup Portal is to generate employment and boost economic empowerment of women across J&K.”

The consistency in focus on skill development and entrepreneurship is the long standing commitment of the incumbent Jammu & Kashmir Government and that main motive of this policy is to empower economically the youth for sustaining growth and development in Jammu & Kashmir. An equal attention to the entrepreneurship of both men and women is the main feature of this entrepreneurship policy of the incumbent Jammu & Kashmir Government. Among several initiatives taken to boost entrepreneurship the “Hausla 1.O” was also undertaken to empower women entrepreneurs in Jammu & Kashmir. Showing consistency in the empowerment of women through entrepreneurship the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha recently launched ‘Hausla 2.0’ and the JK Startup Portal. The launch of ‘Hausla 2.0’ and the JK Startup Portal is as such yet another initiative to boost to women entrepreneurship in Jammu & Kashmir. The launch of “Hausla 2.O” is in itself an indication that the targets set for women entrepreneurship under “Hausla 1.O” have been fully achieved and successful implementation of “Hausla 1.O” has in fact necessitated the launch of “Hausla 2.O”.  Worth mentioning is the fact that under “Hausla 1.O” the entrepreneurs were not only trained but were given the opportunities to reach out to markets for expanding their business operations successfully both within and outside Jammu & Kashmir. The main motive of ‘Hausla 2.0’ and the JK Startup Portal is to generate employment and boost economic empowerment of women across J&K. While the “Hausla 1.O” was the beginning of a journey of economic empowerment for women entrepreneurs in Jammu & Kashmir, the ‘Hausla 2.0’ and the JK Startup Portal would be the extension of the ongoing journey of the economic empowerment for women entrepreneurs in Jammu & Kashmir.

“With the launch of ‘Hausla 2.0’ and the JK Startup Portal the access to finance and market opportunities remain the pressing concerns for women entrepreneurs but given the experiences of “Hausla 1.O” the launch of Hausla 2.0’ and the JK Startup Portal has brought new hopes to hundreds of women entrepreneurs preparing to start their own business activities after acquiring the required skills in recent years.”

In this journey of entrepreneurial empowerment of women the financial institutions and local markets play a pivotal role. While the support of financial institutions necessitates Government intervention, the entrepreneurs themselves need to develop trends and tendencies of reaching out to markets for successful operations of their business activities. Grievances are galore that while unwanted delays by financial institutions particularly banks slowdown the entrepreneurial initiatives of the entrepreneurs,  the reach out of entrepreneurs to markets is best facilitated by the local traders and as such does not require any institutional or administrative intervention by the Government.  So with the launch of ‘Hausla 2.0’ and the JK Startup Portal the access to finance and market opportunities remain the pressing concerns for women entrepreneurs but given the experiences of “Hausla 1.O” the launch of Hausla 2.0’ and the JK Startup Portal has brought new hopes to hundreds of women entrepreneurs preparing to start their own business activities after acquiring the required skills in recent years.
