DC gives directions for introduction of courses as per job market demand

Shopian: A meeting of the District Skill Committee was conducted on Wednesday at Shopian to deliberate and finalise the district skill development Plan and various activities taken under SANKALP scheme for the year 2024-25 in the district.
District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb chaired the meeting and took a comprehensive review on the working of the District Skill Committee and Action Plan for Skill training of Youth & Vulnerable sections of the society.
He apprised the members about their role for effective implementation of skill development schemes and directed for continuous monitoring of Training centres involved in skill development under PMKVY 4.0 and other schemes
He took appraisal of last year’s performance of training wherein he was informed that 75 students belonging to SC, ST, PwDs and Women were trained under SANKALP during the year.
The committee also deliberated and approved two courses of Data Entry Operations and Self Employed Tailor for this year under SANKALP along with introduction of various fresh Job roles in agriculture, horticulture, organic farming and tourism & hospitality sectors under District Skill Development Plan.
The DDC instructed for introduction of new age courses based on the market demand and requirement of the district in the Action Plan for 2024-25 in order to meet the requirements of Job market, financial institutions and entrepreneurship.
Faz Lul Haseeb also asked for enhancing mobilisation of youth by line departments and directed them to work in close coordination with Training Centres for enrolment so that effective training is imparted to Youth under PMKVY 4.0 and SANKALP
He asked for putting in place a robust mechanism in the form of subcommittees for industry linkage, self-employment and credit linkage from financial institutions & Entrepreneurship of Youth
The training under the program shall be provided by ITI Shopian, Polytechnic and EDI Shopian under convergence mode at different centres in the district.
The meeting was attended by District Officers of Industries, agri allied departments, Principal ITI, Polytechnic and heads of Handloom, Handicrafts, EDI, KVIB and others.
