DC G’bal reviews preparations for I’ Day Celebrations

Ganderbal : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir on Wednesday convened a comprehensive meeting at Mini Secretariat, here to review the arrangements for the celebrations of forthcoming Independence Day in the district.
The meeting was informed that the main function will be held at Qamaria Stadium, Ganderbal, where the National Flag will be unfurled by the chief guest, followed by a march past featuring contingents from the District Police, CRPF, Armed Police, NCC, PTS Manigam, Forest Protection Force, and students from various educational institutions. Students will also present cultural programs during the event.
The DC took a detailed review of the preparations, covering aspects such as the readiness and consolidation of the main venue, podium arrangements, security measures, seating, transportation, parking, electricity, refreshment, medical care, ambulance availability, deployment of fire tenders and sanitation.
Emphasizing the cultural programs, the DC tasked the Chief Education Officer Ganderbal with selecting the best student performances to highlight India’s rich cultural diversity.
The DC underscored the importance of cleanliness, the illumination of government offices, plantation drives, and flag hoisting at iconic locations, tourist destinations, and government establishments to honor the day with appropriate enthusiasm and respect.
Highlighting the significance of Independence Day, the DC urged all concerned officers to finalize arrangements before August 13, the date set for the full dress rehearsal.
Traffic management was also discussed thoroughly. ARTO Ganderbal and DySP Traffic were directed to ensure efficient parking and a comprehensive traffic plan for major roads leading to the venue.
Additionally, the DC directed the SDM Kangan and all Tehsildars and BDOs to ensure timely arrangements for the celebration of Independence Day at the Sub-Division, Block, and Panchayat levels.
The meeting was attended by SSP Ganderbal, Sandeep Gupta; ADC Gulzar Ahmad; CPO, SDM Kangan, SE R&B, CEO, Executive Engineers of various wings, EO Municipality, ARTO, Tehsildars and other concerned officers and officials.
