8 accused arrested for illegal extraction & transportation of minerals in Kulgam & B’la, 8 vehicles also seized: Police

Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested eight persons for being involved in illegal mining & transportation of minerals in Kulgam and Baramulla districts and also eized eight vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that sleuths of police along with officers of Geology and mining department, arrested six suspects and also seized six vehicles (Tractors) involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Devsar and Behibagh areas of Kulgam.
Stating that in Baramulla also a police party under the supervision of SDPO Pattan assisted by Incharge Police Post Kungamdara seized two vehicles (2 Tractors), Police in its statement further said that two drivers identified as Mohd Ashraf Wani S/o Gh Ahmad R/o Shirpora Pattan & Muzamil Ahmad Wani S/o Manzoor Ahmad R/o Hanjiwera Bala were arrested for being involved in illegal extraction/ transportation of minerals at Khore Sherabad. Police in its statement further said that cases were registered under relevant sections of law were registered in respective Police Stations besides initiating investigation into the cases.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police warned that people indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and also appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
