Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has solved cheating case in Handwara by arresting three accused persons involved in honey-trapping by impersonating as a girl on social media platform and grabbing money.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the Police Station Vilgam received a complaint regarding cheating on social media platform (Facebook) using honey trap method and grabbing money, adding therein that a case under FIR No. 43/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Vilgam following which investigation was set into motion.
Police in its statement further said that during the course of investigation, three suspects involved in the commission of crime were arrested and subsequently identified as Firdous Ah Tantray S/o Mohd Shafi Tantray, Danish Ah Bhat S/o Gh. Mohd Bhat and Aaliyan Ah Bhat S/o Ashiq Hussain Bhat, all residents of Dohama Vilgam who were blamed of cheating people using their fake Facebook account and impersonating as a girl.
Stating that the said trio arrested were taken into custody besides which their mobile phones were seized and further investigation initiated, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people not to fall in the trap of cheaters/fraudsters on social media and not to share personal details with unknown persons.
