Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Qazigund at a checkpoint established at Upper Bazar Qazigund intercepted a motorcycle ridden by one Sahil Ahmad Lone S/o Abdul Rashid Lone R/o Dalwach, Qazigund carrying a nylon bag and during search recovered 1.4 Kgs of poppy straw like contraband substance from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody , adding therein that the vehicle used in commission of crime was also seized.
Stating that a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Qazigund besides initiating further investigation, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reiterated its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
