Amarnath Yatra: Nukkad Natak Show Raises Awareness About Safe Sanitation Practices, Stop Diarrhea Campaign At Nunwan Basecamp

Anantnag : In a significant move aimed at to promote safe sanitation practices during the ongoingShriAmarnathJiYatra, a captivating NukkadNatak show was performed on Friday at the Nunwan Basecamp.
The event aimed to educate and engage pilgrims on the importance of maintaining hygiene throughout their sacred journey.
The NukkadNatak, a traditional street play, was strategically chosen for its impactful and direct communication style. The performers skillfully conveyed critical messages about proper sanitation practices, waste disposal, personal hygiene and also disseminated message for public participation in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene.
Through lively performances and engaging storytelling, the audience was reminded of their role in preserving the cleanliness and sanctity of the yatra route.
Director General Rural Sanitation, AnooMalhotra emphasized the significance of such initiatives. She said NukkadNatak is an excellent medium to reach out to a large number of pilgrims in an engaging and effective manner. Our goal is to ensure that every yatri is well-informed about safe sanitation practices, contributing to a cleaner and safer pilgrimage experience, added Malhotra.
The ShriAmarnathJiYatra attracts thousands of devotees each year, making sanitation and hygiene critical components for the health and safety of all participants. The NukkadNatak show is part of a broader campaign to enhance awareness and encourage responsible behavior among pilgri
The event was well-received by the audience, who appreciated the informative yet entertaining format. Many expressed their commitment to adhering to the sanitation guidelines and spreading the message further among fellow pilgri
Camp Director Nunwan Basecamp, Vikas Gupta lauded the efforts of Directorate of Rural Sanitation, Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj J&K for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene despite huge footfall of Yatris, Community Kitchen operators, and other services providers.
As the yatra progresses, additional educational and awareness activities will be conducted to reinforce the importance of hygiene and sanitation. These efforts align with the broader mission of Swachh Bharat and aim to make the yatra a model of cleanliness and environmental sustainability.
Notably, an awareness session on ‘Stop Diarrhea Campaign’ was also held by VinayTiwari, PMU head to sensitize the devotees and services providers.
The event concluded with a special session on Basic Life Support (BLS) as an initial response to any medical emergency by trainers of Fire and Emergency Development. Others present on the occasion were Vikas Gupta, Camp Director Nunwan, Security Incharge SSP Kulbir Singh, ACP AnantnagZaheerAbasBhat, and other senior officers.
