Srinagar: Police on Friday said that it has arrested six persons for their involvement in illegal mining & transportation of minerals in Baramulla and also seized six vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Baramulla and SDPO Kreeri assisted by SHO Police Station Sheeri and SHO Police Station Kreeri seized six vehicles (2 tippers, 2 Dumpers, 2 Tractors), adding therein that six drivers were also arrested for being involved in illegal extraction/ transportation of minerals at Gantamulla Payeen and Frastahaar Kreeri. Police in its statement further said that the drivers arrested by it have been identified as Anzar Malla S/o Shabir Ahmad R/o Sheeri, Ghulam Hassan Malik S/o Mohammad Munawar R/o Kitchama, Irfan Ahmad Bhat S/o Abdul Ahad R/o Hajin Bandipora, Mumtaz Ahmad Wani S/o Abdul Aziz R/o Nadihal Bandipora, Ab Hameed Waza S/o Gh Mohd and Omer Waza S/o Ab Rashid, both residents of Frastahaar .
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at Police Station Sheeri andPolice Station Kreeri respectively besides initiating investigation , Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
