Baramulla: In a significant move to promote local entrepreneurship, the Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO), in collaboration with the District Administration Baramulla organized an e-Commerce onboarding drive at Dakbungalow Baramulla.
This initiative aims to bolster economic growth by enhancing the potential of local entrepreneurs.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, accompanied by the General Manager District Industry Center Baramulla, addressed the forum. In his address, the DC underscored the pivotal role of digital commerce in business growth, providing valuable insights into the e-Commerce network and its numerous benefits.
The primary objective of the drive was to reach out to the grassroots levels, promoting local products and educating entrepreneurs and artisans on the advantages of selling products on e-Commerce platforms. This effort is part of a series of planned drives across J&K aimed at onboarding local products onto e-Commerce platforms.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 250 attendees, including women entrepreneurs, retailers, artisans, exporters, growers, and FPOs. It highlighted the advantages of onboarding onto e-Commerce platforms, encouraging participants to join the online marketplace.
During the day-long event, 25 participants were registered on the spot, free of charge, while others began the onboarding process. Detailed sessions by experts elaborated on the benefits of e-Commerce platforms, enhancing participants’ understanding and readiness.
The drive aligns with JKTPO’s commitment to supporting local exporters by providing diverse marketing platforms and forward linkages.
Representatives from JKTPO emphasized the importance of the ODOP (One District One Product) and DEH (District Export Hub) initiatives. Additionally, a representative from GeM (Government e-Marketplace) provided a detailed presentation on the registration process and facilitated participant onboarding onto the GeM portal.
A highlight of the event was the one-on-one onboarding sessions, enabling sellers and partners to integrate directly into the GeM marketplace. This hands-on approach allowed participants to swiftly join the digital marketplace.
The event showcased the commitment of JKTPO and the District Administration to empower local entrepreneurs, facilitating their entry into the global e-Commerce landscape. By providing a platform for small businesses to reach a global audience, this initiative aims to boost economic growth and create sustainable opportunities for the vibrant entrepreneurial community in Jammu and Kashmir.
