Srinagar: Vijay Kumar the ADGP Armed/L&O J&K on Monday felicitated various sports personnel of J&K Police Central sports Teams who have recently won various medals and brought laurels to J&K and J&K Police by performing extraordinarily atvarious events & Championships at national level. The felicitation ceremony was held at APHQ Lawns Srinagar.
During his address the ADGP were welcoming all the participants congratulated the medal winners and highlighted their extraordinary performance during these national level events. Besides ADGP appreciated the role of J&K Police Mountain Rescue Team (MRT) during ongoing Amarnath Yatra, deployed at various locations enroute to the Holy Cave. It is pertinent to mention here that the MRT of J&K Police are actively involved in rescue and relief operations during yatra and have always assisted in providing timely assistance to the Yatris during natural calamities and in the hour of need.
Earlier Shahid Mehraj DIG Armed Kashmir during his welcome address highlighted the importance of sports and said that sports is an important part of policing and J&K Police has recently organised all India level sports events under the aegis of All India Police Sports Control Board notably 72ndall India Police Hockey Tournament,23rdall India Police water sports and other top events. The J&K Police Won 11Gold,03 silver and 10 bronze medals during 23rd All India Police Water Sports Championship 2023-24
held at Srinagar,besidesWon 03 Gold ,02 silver and 02 Bronze Medals in canoeing events in the same championship.
J&K Police wrestling team won 03 bronze medals during 72 All India Police Wrestling Cluster 2023-24 held at Madhuban Haryana, besides 01 Silver Medal in Weightlifting during the same cluster.
During 9th All India Police Judo Cluster 2024-25 held at Guwahati Assam the J&K Police team won 01 silver medal in Judo,01 Gold & 01 Bronze in wushu and 05 Gold,02 silver and 06 Bronze Medals in (Tanding & Ganda).
J&K police won winner and runner up trophy during 27thAll India Police Golf Tournament 2023-24 held at Shillong Golf Course Meghalaya. The tournament was held from February 21 to 23, 2024.
Besides, 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals during16th All India Police Badminton Championship 2023-24 held at PullelaGopichand Academy Gachibowli Hyderabad.
Dy.SP Paramvir Singh and Dy.SP Pardeep Singh of J&K Police performed exceptionally well and Won 03 Bronze medalsduring 72nd All India Police Volleyball Cluster 2023-24 in (Table Tennis ) held at Police Hqrs.Nagpur Maharashtra.
