Srinagar: Police on Friday said that it has attached properties worth crores of a drug peddler on Jammu-Srinagar highway in Qazigund, Kulgam.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that police in Kulgam under the supervision of SSP Kulgam on Friday attached properties (One double storied residential house and a residential cum commercial house) measuring 3457 Sq. Ft (Valuing 3 Crores) belonging to a drug peddler namely Abdul Rashid Rather @Mathur S/o Ghulam Hassan Rather R/o Bonigam Qazigund, Kulgam under section 68-F(2) of NDPS Act 1985.
Police in its statement further said that the said properties were identified as illegally acquired property during the course of investigation/enquiry conducted by Kulgam police and were prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in narcotic drug and psychotropic substances by the owner, who is presently detained under PIT NDPS act and is lodged at Central Jail Kot Balwal Jammu. Stating that the said drug peddler is involved in Case FIR number 128/2020 and Case FIR number 227/2023 of Police Station Qazigund, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement reiterated its commitment to combat drug menace and said that people of the area have hailed the initiative taken by it.
