Four patwaris of Narbal tehsil suspended for ‘dereliction of duties’

Srinagar, July 12: Deputy Commissioner Budgam has placed four Patwaris from Tehsil Office Narbal, under immediate suspension for ‘dereliction of duties’, reports said.

The decision was taken following a review meeting, which found major defaults in adhering to Public Services Guarantee Act timelines, maintenance of revenue records, and in response to multiple complaints received from citizens, reported news agency KDC.
“Whereas, a review meeting to review the functioning of Tehsil office Narbal was held by the undersigned along with a committee of Senior Officers including Additional Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) Budgam on 12.07.2024. Whereas, the Govt. has duly notified timelines of providing services to the general public under Pubic Services Guarantee, Act,” reads an order issued by DC Budgam, Akshay Labroo.

“Whereas, various directions in written and through various review meetings held at different levels have been issued to field functionaries to make them aware about the timelines and the legal sensitivity of adherence to the timelines. Whereas, it is mandatory as per the relevant provisions of Land Revenue Act, and various stipulations passed through the relevant order of the government to duly maintain index and keep the revenue record including Part-e-Sarkar in safe custody of the revenue authorities,” the order read further.

“Whereas, various complaints in written and through in person mode have been lodged by several persons/ delegations against the functioning of functionaries in Tehsil Narbal. Whereas, during the in-depth review conducted at the Tehsil Narbal today on 12.07.2024 by the committee (Deputy Commissioner, Addl. Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) major defaults on account of the adherence of PSGA timelines, maintenance of revenue record including missing Part-e-Sarkar and multiple complaints received from several citizens, it has been unanimously decided by the committee that in the interest of administration, responsibility needs to be fixed and the defaulters need to be acted against and formally enquired upon.”

“Now, therefore, the following officials are hereby placed under immediate suspension: 1. Nazir Ahmad Shah Patwari, Tehsil Office Narbal. 2. Ghulam Hussain Dar, Office Patwari. 3. Mohammad Abass Mir, Patwari. 4. Shameem Ahmad Ganie, Patwari.”

“Enquiry committee headed by ADC Budgam, SDM Khansahib and Tehsildar BK Pora (being the members) shall enquire into the matter and submit its detailed report for onward submission to the competent authority for further necessary action under relevant rules,” the order read.
