Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that in collaboration with the Excise Department, it has launched a comprehensive operation to destroy wild cannabis in the Goshbugh-Lolipora & Goshbugh-Wussan areas of Baramulla.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that the joint team, comprising police officials and excise personnel, conducted destruction drive on vast tracts of land approximately 20 kanals, adding therein that the team meticulously destroyed the wild cannabis, ensuring that the drugs do not reach the streets and fuel addiction.
Stating that people of the area have widely appreciated the initiatives take by it in curing the menace of drugs from society, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement said that people of the area have also urged it to expand the drive to other areas, demonstrating their support for the campaign.
