Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested two gamblers and also seized stake money and vehicle from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on a specific inputs about gambling activities in the open fields at Check Rabitar, a police party headed by Incharge Police Post Shadipora under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Ganderbal raided the specific spot and apprehended 2 gamblers identified as Mohd Yousaf Tiplo S/o Ab Salam Tiplo R/o Aanchar Soura & Bilal Ahmad Sofi S/o Gh Mohd Sofi R/o Gundroshan Ganderbal. Police in its statement furthermore said that stake money of Rs 19,500/-, playing cards and vehicle (Innova) bearing registration number JK01AU-0463 was also recovered from the possession of the said accused who were shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Ganderbal besides initiating further investigation, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
