7 accused arrested for illegal extraction & transportation of minerals in B’la & Kulgam, 7 vehicles also seized: Police

Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested seven suspects for being involved in illegal mining & transportation of minerals in Kulgam and Baramulla districts respectively and also seized seven vehicles from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar police said that in Baramulla, a police party under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg assisted by SHO Police Station Kunzer seized three vehicles (3 Tippers) and arrested their drivers. Police in its statement further said that the said drivers arrested by it have been identified as Abdul Majeed Sheikh S/o Abdul Rahim R/o Karhama, Bilal Ahmad Shah S/o Mohammad Akbar R/o TakiyaBatpora& Bilal Ahmad GanieS/o Habibullah R/o Ugmuna , adding therein that they are involved in illegal extraction/ transportation of minerals at KunzerBaramulla. Police in its statement furthermore said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kunzer and investigation is underway.
Moreover Police in its statement also said that in a similar action in Kulgam also, police parties of Police Station Devsar and Police Post Jawahar Tunnel seized four vehicles (Tractors) and arrested their drivers for being involved in illegal extraction/ transportation of minerals at Devsar and Sadiwara, adding there that cases under relevant sections of law were registered at Police Station Devsar and Police Station Qazigund besides initiating investigation.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law.
