Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Baramulla and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party headed by SHO Police Station Tangmarg at a checkpoint established at Hospital Crossing Tangmarg, intercepted a person identified as Zahoor Ahmad Sheikh S/o Gh Ahmad R/o Nadirgund and later during search, 35 grams of contraband Charas like substance was recovered from his possession. Besides, the accused has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Tangmarg where he remains in custody.
Stating that the police has accordingly registered a case under relevant sections of law at Police Station Tangmarg and later initiated further investigation into the case.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement police urged people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society and reassured that it will act tough against the criminals as per law.
