Srinagar: Amid a significant influx of tourists in Kashmir, multispecialty hospital Paras Health Srinagar has observed a surge in emergency cases. These include trauma, accidents, drowning, and cardiac arrests. The hospital’s emergency department has been pivotal in saving lives, emphasizing the importance of immediate medical intervention, particularly within the first hour after a heart attack, known as the “golden hour.”
Recently, a 75-year-old male tourist, Radhey Shyam Gupta experienced a near-fatal incident while boarding a shikara on Dal Lake. The tourist fell into the lake and was pulseless for around 15 minutes before reaching the Emergency Room (ER) at Paras Health. The skilled medical team acted swiftly and effectively, resuscitating him and ultimately saving his life. In another incident, a 53-year-old female tourist, Bhartiben Manish Pandya, suffered a heart attack and collapsed in the washroom of her hotel room. Despite a 25-minute delay in reaching the hospital, the dedicated team at Paras Health managed to revive her. The patient underwent CPR for 20-25 minutes, during which she experienced cardiac arrest twice. Once stabilized, an ECG revealed irregular rhythms, prompting an echocardiogram and an emergency angioplasty in the catheterization lab. The procedure revealed 100% blockage in the left anterior descending (LAD) artery, which was promptly treated with the placement of a stent. Dr. Shafat Ahmed Kenu, Head Emergency Medicine at Paras Health Srinagar, emphasized the critical importance of rapid medical response, stating, “The golden hour is crucial in treating heart attack patients. Immediate intervention significantly increases the chances of survival and recovery. Our state-of-the-art facilities and highly trained medical staff are equipped to handle such emergencies efficiently.” Paras Health boasts state-of-the-art facilities available 24/7, ensuring that all emergency cases are addressed promptly and effectively. The hospital is equipped with advanced diagnostic tools, a fully functional catheterization lab, and a dedicated team of specialists in various fields, including cardiology, trauma care, and emergency medicine. This comprehensive approach ensures that patients receive the highest standard of care round the clock. Paras Health is committed to delivering exceptional healthcare services to both residents and tourists in Kashmir. With a focus on quality care, the hospital offers a wide range of medical services, including specialized treatments, advanced surgical procedures, and comprehensive diagnostic facilities. The dedicated team at Paras Health is passionate about ensuring the well-being of every patient, making it a trusted healthcare provider in the region.
