Drug Peddler Arrested In Sopore, Contraband Substance Also Recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Sopore and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Post Fruit Mandi headed by Incharge Police Post Fruit under the supervision of SDPO Sopore, at a checkpoint established at Baghi Sundri crossing Nowpora, intercepted a suspect identified as Showkat Ahmad Najar S/o Ghulam Nabi Najar R/o Hib Dangerpora and during search recovered 118 grams of contraband charas like substance was recovered from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case under FIR No. 156/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Sopore besides initiating further investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
