9 vehicles, 2 JCBs seized for illegal extraction & transportation of minerals in B’gam, 2 drivers arrested: Police

Srinagar : Police on Wednesday said that it has seized nine vehicles and two JCB machines and also arrested two drivers for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Budgam.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarter Srinagar Police said that while acting on credible inputs regarding illegal mining in Govt land (Gashchari) at Minar Koker Bagh, Khag, a Police party of Police Station Khag raided the spot and seized one JCB and one tipper bearing registration number JK04-4111 loaded with illegally extracted boulders/rounded rocks and also arrested two drivers identified as Bilal Ahmad S/o Rajjak R/o Aijazabad Haryana A/P Khag and Ali Mohd Dar S/o Gh Mohd Dar R/o Kokerbagh.
Stating that a case under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Khag besides initiating further investigation into the case, Police in its statement further said that in another similar action Police Station Chadoora during routine Patrolling/Naka checking seized 8 tippers and 1 JCB at main market Chadoora for Carrying illegally extracted minerals. Stating that the vehicles bearing registration numbers JK02-AP9263, JK13-C27111, JK13C 1437, JK04C-6005, JK01V-5080, JK13C-9616, JK03H-145 & JK04B-2646 were seized , Police in its statement further said that the said vehicles were later handed over to Geology and Mining department for further course of legal action.
