Residents Protest Sudden Electricity Tariff Hike In Waliwar G’bal

Srinagar : Residents of Reshi Mohallah in Waliwar, located in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, took to the streets today to protest against the Power Development Department (PDD) authorities over a sudden and significant increase in the monthly electricity tariff.
The demonstrators expressed their frustration and anger, highlighting that the abrupt hike in electricity bills is placing an undue financial burden on the community, particularly affecting those with limited incomes. The protestors carried placards and chanted slogans demanding an immediate rollback of the tariff increase. “We are struggling to make ends meet, and this sudden hike in electricity bills is unacceptable. The authorities must reconsider and provide us relief,” said one of the protestors. In their appeal, the residents called on the Lieutenant Governor (LG) administration and the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Ganderbal to intervene and address their concerns. They urged the officials to review the tariff hike and ensure that the community’s grievances are resolved promptly.
