Police Organises Awareness Prog On New Criminal Laws In Bhaderwah

Bhaderwah : Jammu and Kashmir Police department organised awareness Programme in the premises of Community hall Bhaderwah on three new criminal laws Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam which will replace the Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure and the Indian Evidence Act .
Additional Supdtt of Police Vinod Sharma was chief guest where as SDPO Bhaderwah Dr Waseem , Station House Officer Sandeep Parihar , Advocate Mohd Majid Malik and PSI Rahul was resource persons on the occasion where educationist Arif Rana Bhaderwah was stage secretary . Advocate Mohd Majid Malik Panel Lawyer District Legal Services Authority said the new laws will allow any person to file a Zero FIR at any police station, regardless of jurisdiction; it will permit online registration of police complaints and electronic serving of summons. He said that it’s a historic Day in the Indian Criminal Justice System as new Criminal Laws came into force today and expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for bringing the much-needed reforms in the Criminal Justice System of the country. Panel Lawyer DLSA said the commencement of 3 new laws- ‘Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita’, ‘Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita’ and ‘Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam’- breaks the centuries-old shackles of colonial legacy.Advocate Mohd Majid Malik said new laws make videography of crime scenes mandatory for all heinous crimes. Summonses can be served electronically, expediting the legal processes and said the change was made to ensure “speedy justice and justice to all ”. Proper implementation of these laws will require training and forensic teams, whose visits have been made mandatory for offences carrying a sentence of seven years or more, he said.“The new laws will ensure justice and equality for all, moving away from the repressive colonial framework. The reforms, rooted in the principles of liberty and fraternity, are a testament to our commitment to protect the vulnerable and ensure justice for all,” Advocate Mohd Majid Malik said.He also informed that new provisions have been made in view of emerging crimes like gang rapes, killing by mobs, false promise of marriage and others. “This will increase the demand for forensic experts across the country, which the NFSU (National Forensic Science University) will cater to, he informed and added that swift Judicial Processes: Strict timelines for delivering trial judgments within 45 days and framing charges within 60 days emphasize timely justice delivery, Adv Majid Malik informed .
