Rajouri: Drug Control Measures Reviewed At Distt Level NCORD Committee Meeting

Rajouri: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Om Prakash Bhagat on Thursday chaired a meeting of the District level NCORD Committee to assess and enhance the existing measures to combat drug menace in the district.
The meeting served as a platform for a comprehensive exchange of ideas and strategies, facilitating a deeper understanding required to combat and eradicate drug abuse from the roots.
The DC scrutinized ongoing interventions to tackle the drug menace, while underscoring the crucial importance of collaboration among all stakeholders to make Rajouri a drug-free district.
Recognizing the pivotal role of educational institutions in preventing drug abuse, the DC directed the Chief Education Officer to sensitize school children about the detrimental effects of drug abuse, adding that this initiative seeks to empower the younger generation with knowledge to make informed choices.
To strengthen the efforts, the DC directed for installation of CCTVs in all medical shops to monitor and prevent the sale of psychotropic drugs. He further emphasized the need to strengthen and intensify the awareness campaign to reach a wider audience, utilizing various channels and platforms to spread the message.
The DC also stressed the importance of ensuring proper treatment for drug addicts in Drug de-addiction centers and addiction treatment facilities providing them with the necessary support and resources for a successful recovery.
Promoting sports among youth was also highlighted as a key strategy to engage them in positive activities and prevent drug abuse.
The meeting was attended by the ADC Nowshera, Babu Ram Tandan; ADC Sunderbani, Rajeev Magotra; ADC Kalakote, Mohd Tanveer; ASP, MUSADIQ MAJID BASU; ACR, Mohd Jhangir Khan; SDM Thananandi, Abid Hussain Shah; DSWO, Abdul Raheem and other concerned officers.
