Ganderbal : Daily commuters, especially employees and students, are grappling with ongoing challenges caused by frequent traffic jams in the town’s main area.
Local residents, frustrated by the situation, voiced their concerns over the ineffective management of traffic by authorities. They highlighted the stretch from Nagbal to Beehama via Duderhama Chowk as particularly problematic, with poor traffic regulation leading to frequent standstills at critical intersections. Adding to the chaos, many drivers leave their vehicles parked along roadsides, exacerbating congestion. Locals criticized authorities for their passive approach to addressing these issues. Residents also pointed out that encroachment on footpaths by vendors and others has further reduced space for pedestrians, worsening traffic flow on main thoroughfares. “The continuous traffic jams have severely disrupted our daily routines and businesses. Government employees and students are particularly affected, often arriving late to their workplaces and schools,” lamented residents. In addition to urging better enforcement of traffic laws, locals called for significant infrastructure improvements to accommodate increasing traffic volumes. They emphasized the need for additional parking facilities to alleviate congestion and improve overall traffic management in the town.
