Srinagar: Police on Monday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Station Qazigund established a checkpoint at Hampora Crossing near Srinagar-Jammu highway and intercepted a vehicle (Alto-800) bearing registration number JK03L-5348 driven by one Bilal Ahmad Reshi S/o Mohd Abdullah Reshi R/o Danew Nagnaran, Anantnag , adding therein that during search, 3.2 Kgs of Poppy Straw and digital weighing machine were recovered from the possession of the said accused who was arrested and the vehicle used in commission of crime was also seized.
Stating that a case under FIR No. 174/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Qazigund besides initiating further investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood, but warned therein that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
